I have wanted to share this for a long time, but I have decided not to until I was farther along with everything. I have decided to get into the arena of veterinarian data extraction. It is certainly going to be an uphill battle. IDEXX, VetData and the others are companies with hundreds of millions of dollars will not be easy to compete with.
As you know, CarsonDB is an Open-Source effort. It solely supports the AVImark veterinary management system. It also requires the development and maintenance of software that must be installed locally at a veterinary clinic. This new system is cloud-based. It will support the following PIMS:
IntraVet (Classic and SQL Server versions)
A common interface will be provided, so accessing data from AVImark clinics will be the same as pulling data from Cornerstone or Infinity clinics. There will also be limited support for write-backs to all PIMS, including AVImark. AVImark has been difficult because they use a proprietary indexing and checksum system. However, I am pleased to say that this is now working well.
Along with the common interface, the cloud interface will also do change auditing. If changes are made to records in the local PIMS, audit records will be created so that you can see the before and after. We will also monitor resources at the local veterinary clinic to ensure the clinic’s server and computer performance is not compromised.
As the coding phase is nearing completion, we are looking for a cloud service provider. Unfortunately, cloud service/database providers are not affordable for small start-ups. This is an independent effort without any financial backing at this point. My hope is that we will be over this hurdle soon and be ready to start the testing and integration phases.
If you are interested in finding out more about this new service, or if you are interested in possibly investing in this new product, I can be contacted through the DigitalVulcan.com website. The email link is at the bottom of the main page. Investment opportunities will be limited to companies already operating in the veterinary space; no inventors outside of the veterinary industry will be considered at this time.
I look forward to working with you in the future.
